If you’re deaf or hard of hearing, or just prefer visual notification, you can turn on LED flash alerts on your iPhone. It’s a great feature for when you don’t want to miss a call or notification.

You can turn this feature on by opening the Settings app and scrolling down to Accessibility. Then, tap Audio/Visual and turn on the toggle next to LED Flash for Alerts.

Turn it on

If you have a hearing impairment or you’re having trouble noticing alerts in a noisy environment, there’s an option to make your iPhone’s LED flash on when you get a call or text message. This feature, available in iOS 10 and later, is a great way to make it easier for you to keep track of calls and notifications.

Apple’s Accessibility features are powerful and useful tools that can help you with many of life’s tasks. One of those tools is the ability to turn on your camera’s LED (next to the rear lens) to flash when you receive an alert.

The LED on the back of the phone is used for a variety of purposes including photography, but it can also be used as a flash to notify you of new messages or calls. It’s easy to enable this functionality on an iPhone, but you may not know how.

You can turn on LED flash for alerts by launching the Settings app and going to Accessibility. Tap Audio/Visual, then tap LED Flash for Alerts and toggle on the button to the right of that.

Turn it off

There are times when you might not want your LED flash to go off when you get a notification, especially if you have your phone on silent mode or in a quiet room. Fortunately, you can turn this feature off on your iPhone.

The first step is to open the Settings app on your device and tap Accessibility. Then, scroll down and select Audio/Visual. You should see the LED Flash for Alerts option on the screen.

This is a setting that Apple includes to help people with hearing loss who can’t hear the sounds of incoming calls and other notifications. It flashes the LED light next to the camera lens and provides a visual cue for incoming alerts.

If you have a deaf or hard of hearing person in your life, this feature can be extremely helpful. If you’re in a busy meeting with your phone on silent or in a quiet room, this can be a great way to ensure that you don’t miss any important alerts without having to put your device into vibration alert mode.

To enable this, just head to the Settings app on your iPhone and tap Accessibility. Once there, tap Audio/Visual and then toggle on the LED Flash for Alerts option.

When the LED Flash for Alerts is on, you will see a green oblong under the virtual button. To disable this, simply tap the button to the right of it and it will be turned off.

You can also turn the feature off when you’re not in a situation where it would be useful, such as in an office environment or in a meeting with other people who might not be able to hear your iPhone. You can then turn the setting back on when you need it.
